vicinato di via Purgatorio Vecchio, Sasso Caveoso, Matera
Organised by Associazione "Pro Loco della città di Matera tra storia cultura e tradizioni" APS-ETS
As part of the "Matera Sottosopra" project, an event dedicated to water as a common heritage of Mediterranean cultures will take place on December 9, 2026, in the neighborhood of Via Purgatorio Vecchio, in Sasso Caveoso. The day includes reenactments and narratives about the history of the Acquedotto San Giovanni, a comparison with the traditional "Skundu" water system of Tétouan (Morocco), and intercultural artistic and musical performances. The initiative celebrates the anniversary of the inscription of the Sassi di Matera on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
